In my English class, we made a historical marker by taking a previous marker and putting our own words over top of it. It wouldn't let me post the graphic for some reason, but here is the text:
At this spot in 1844, the town of Patton, PA was founded by a small group of settlers. Together they prospered greatly and the town grew. In the early 1900s the boom of the coalmines, and the Patton Clay Works, hit the town with amazing force. There were jobs for all and people were doing better than ever. Even with the clay works closing their doors in the 1960s, the economy prospered into modern day, even if it's not quite as booming. Nowadays Patton is seen as a righteous little town in the Laurel Highlands, with a rich and very respectable history.
